Day tour from Santa Marta. Enjoy Caribbean diving off the shore of Tayrona National Park. See abundant marine life underwater and scenic landscapes topside. Private transportation from Santa Marta included.
Overview
Tayrona National Park is world famous for its beaches and rainforests and tourists associate the place with fine white sand, dense foliage and exotic animals. For Colombian scuba divers, however, the best of Tayrona is found underwater. Along the park's coast and all around Isla Aguja (Needle Island) just off the mainland are twenty dive sites. The calm water, gentle slope, healthy marine life, year-round warm temperature and accessibility from Santa Marta make this area the most popular diving destination for Colombian divers. Corals are in excellent condition. Moray eels, cowfish, tangs, pufferfish, bristle worms and schools of yellow snappers are common. Lobsters and seahorses can be found with a little effort.
Tayrona is one of Colombia's must see destinations and if you are a diver the park's underwater riches are something you should not miss. Multi-day trips and scuba diving lessons are also available upon request.

Day 1: From Santa Marta to Tayrona and back
Your dive instructor picks you up in the morning at your hotel in Santa Marta and you drive half an hour to the fishing town of Taganga, your dive boat's takeoff point. After fitting your gear you get on the boat and take a 20 minute ride to your first dive site. You have your own dive instructor or dive master so you do your dive according to your skill and experience level. After your first dive you head to a beach for your surface interval and some snacks. Your second dive will be no more than a few minutes away.
After your two dives you head back to Taganga and rinse off before driving back to Santa Marta, arriving shortly after noon.
